Philosophy
Our curriculum blends the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) with the National Curriculum Framework to provide a robust, modern education for every learner.
Our Curriculum Philosophy
At Balmiki International School, we believe in a balanced curriculum that develops the whole child — intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our approach combines the best of international educational practices with the requirements of Nepal’s national curriculum framework.
Early Years (Nursery – KG)
Our Early Years program uses a play-based learning approach that develops foundational skills through structured activities, guided exploration, and creative expression. Children build early literacy, numeracy, and social skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Primary (Grade 1 – 5)
The Primary curriculum is informed by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), adapted for the Nepali context. Students learn through thematic, inquiry-based units that connect English, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts.
Lower Secondary (Grade 6 – 8)
Students transition to subject-specific teaching aligned with Nepal’s National Curriculum Framework. The focus is on deepening knowledge, developing critical thinking, and building independent study skills.
Secondary (Grade 9 – 10)
The Secondary program prepares students rigorously for the SEE examinations. Core subjects include English, Nepali, mathematics, science, and social studies, with optional subjects based on student interests and career goals.
Languages
All students study English and Nepali. Early Years and Primary students are also introduced to basic Hindi. English is the primary medium of instruction for most subjects.
Assessment
We use a combination of formative assessment (ongoing classroom-based) and summative assessment (term examinations). Regular progress reports and parent-teacher meetings keep families informed.
